Where is it used?

Ecomix® P is used in household and industrial Ecosoft FK filters. Ecomix is loaded into the filter as a mixture, and during the first regeneration it is divided into 4 layers. For regeneration, ordinary tableted salt is used.



Active components of Ecomix® filter material:

1. Inert material - improves backwashing.

2. FerroSorb sorbent reduces the content of iron and manganese.

The mechanism for reducing iron content consists of adsorption (fixation) on the surface of the material, oxidation, formation of an active layer and autocatalytic oxidation. As a result, the content of all main forms of iron decreases: dissolved, oxidized, organic and colloidal.

The best iron and manganese removal efficiency is achieved when well water is applied directly to the Ecomix material.

3. Ion exchange resin (cationite) - softens water.

In the process of filtering water through a cation resin, the hardness ions Ca2+ and Mg2+ are replaced with Na+ ions. During regeneration, calcium and magnesium ions are washed into the drain, and the cation exchanger is saturated with sodium ions from the saline solution.

4. Quartz sand serves to uniformly distribute the water flow through the filter media during its washing.



Regeneration of Ecomix® filter material:

During operation, the filter material is periodically regenerated with a salt solution, just like a conventional ion exchange resin.



— Calcium and magnesium ions are replaced by sodium ions during the regeneration stage with saline solution.

— Iron and manganese compounds are removed due to surface friction of FerroSorb grains in a fluidized bed during backwashing.
