The M4 Sherman is the primary American medium tank of World War II. Produced between 1942 and 1945, it became the most recognizable American tank. It was dynamically developed during the war. It was equipped with a 75 mm cannon. The ammunition and flammable engine made Shermans initially an easy target for heavier German tanks. It was not until the refinement of the design that the roles were reversed. A total of around 49,000 units of all versions of the Sherman tank were produced. The tank was used among others by the armies of the USA, Great Britain, Poland, France and USSR. It enjoyed the reputation of a reliable, simple in production and well-armed tank.
